A new trailer for Exit 8 teases a live-action adaptation of the indie horror game The Exit 8, which debuted in 2023. The film shortens the title to Exit 8 and leans into the creepiness of liminal spaces, following a man trapped in a sterile, endless subway passage as he searches for the exit.

He must follow a list of directions and spot any "anomalies": miss one and he is sent back to the beginning. The premise translates the game's repeated hallway and unsettling repetition into a simple, dread-inducing setup. Directed by Genki Kawamura, the feature centers on Kazunari Ninomiya as the Lost Man and features a modest cast that includes Yamato Kochi, Naru Asanuma and Kotone Hanase.

Critics who screened the film at the Toronto International Film Festival praised its tense atmosphere and inventive use of repetition, and it currently holds a 97% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Written by Genki Kawamura and Kentaro Hirase, Exit 8 runs 95 minutes and opens April 10, 2026.
