Eze and Gyökeres double up to boost Arsenal title bid in Spurs rout
Arsenal arrived under pressure after a draw at Wolves had left questions mounting, with only two Premier League wins in seven and anxiety surrounding the title bid. They found the tonic they needed in a comfortable, confident win over Tottenham, a side seeking a new-manager bounce under Igor Tudor.
Spurs did level through Randal Kolo Muani in the 34th minute and Richarlison drew a fine save from David Raya late on, but chances were scarce and the pickings remained slim. Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres were decisive. Eze, who chose Arsenal over Spurs last summer and scored a hat-trick in November’s north London derby, and Gyökeres, who has at times laboured, each scored twice.
Eze’s second for 3-1 just after the hour killed any glimmer of hope for Spurs, and Gyökeres’ stoppage-time finish sent thousands of fans streaming for the exits; Spurs have now recorded just two league wins in 18.
