'F1' Sequel Teased by Formula 1 and Apple TV Bosses
Apple and Formula 1 executives signalled caution about a potential F1 sequel, with Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali telling attendees at Apple TV’s press day to "stay tuned" and confirming it will not be released in 2027. The 2025 film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and led by Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, was a major commercial and critical success, earning north of $600 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing auto racing film and the highest-grossing film for Apple Studios and for Pitt, and holding an 82% Rotten Tomatoes score.
Domenicali said the team will prioritise a "quality over speed" approach and that they need to digest the film’s success before moving forward, adding that they might have more to announce in the future. F1 was released June 27, 2025, with a 156-minute runtime; writers included Joseph Kosinski and Ehren Kruger and producers included Brad Pitt, Chad Oman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jeremy Kleiner, Lewis Hamilton, Joseph Kosinski and Dede Gardner.
