Families search for missing after Swiss resort blaze as world headlines focus on Iran and EV market shake-up
Newspapers lead with families searching for loved ones after a fire at Le Constellation bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort on Thursday, which has left several people missing. Among those reported missing is Charlotte Niddam, thought to be 15, a French-born teenager who attended Immanuel College and the Free School and was working as a babysitter in Crans-Montana, papers say.
Parents of other missing youngsters are reported as desperate for news, with one mother saying: "I won't stop searching." Investigators believe fountain sparklers mounted on champagne bottles and held too close to the ceiling started the blaze. Images published by several papers appear to show the moment the ceiling caught fire as revellers raised bottles with sparklers.
Front pages also cover unrest in Iran after security forces opened fire on anti-government demonstrators. US President Donald Trump warned Washington would intervene if Tehran killed protesters, saying the US was "locked and loaded" to back demonstrators; Tehran in turn warned the US not to cross a "red line".
An investigation by the Guardian found Google's AI summaries can produce false or misleading health information, citing a case where patients with pancreatic cancer were wrongly told to avoid high-fat foods, a recommendation the paper said could increase risk of dying. Google said most of its AI Overviews are accurate.
