Family Guy spin-off Stewie ordered; premise echoes The Magic School Bus
Fox and Hulu have ordered a new Family Guy spin-off titled Stewie, with a two-season pickup and an episode count that so far looks to be under 15 episodes per season. The series finds Stewie forced to enroll in a "not exactly top-of-the-line" preschool full of children he doesn't know and a rather annoying 75-year-old class turtle.
Unhappy with the situation, he rolls out his "trusty array of devices to take them anywhere in space and time, turning every boring day at school into an insane and surreal adventure." The premise has been compared to The Magic School Bus and described as making Stewie an "R-rated Mrs.
Frizzle." Seth MacFarlane will voice Stewie and serve as an executive producer, with Family Guy writer Kirker Butler set to serve as showrunner. The show will be produced under MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door production banner, which also produces Ted and the new TV remake of The Burbs.
