Fans beg Game Freak to keep Pombon on all fours

Pokemon Winds and Waves have been officially unveiled, and many eyes have turned to the Fire-type starter, Pombon. It’s a fluffy, fire-breathing Pomeranian puppy — adorable and already drawing a lot of attention. Fans are worried it could follow a familiar pattern.

Fire-type starters often abandon their quadruped looks and become more anthropomorphic when they evolve, with Fennekin, Litten and Tepig cited as examples; Litten in particular becomes a burly, bipedal wrestling feline. Because of that history, people are already pleading with Game Freak to keep Pombon on all fours.

Some reactions are blunt: "Grabbing Pombon with both hands and forcing it to stay on four legs." One fan shared an edit with the caption, "Good boy, now staaaaay." Others were louder: "GAME FREAK, KEEP POMBON ON ALL FOUR LEGS AND MY LIFE IS YOURS," and one reply to the official UK account simply repeated, "Please keep Pombon on four legs please keep Pombon on four legs please keep Pombon on four legs." Not everyone objects to the idea of a bipedal evolution.
