Movieweb reports that some Stranger Things fans say a poster for the season five finale, "The Rightside Up," posted on the show's official X/Twitter account contains clues they believe point to a secret ninth episode.

The colorful illustration prompted armchair detectives to share findings on social media: a number of people felt characters in the image appear to be under the Mind Flayer's control based on their positioning, others highlighted the word "lie" in the "I Believe" tagline, some interpreted the letter P in "Chapter Eight" as containing a nine, and one person observed, "Why is Chapter 8 never referenced as the finale?"

Jan. 7 — a date some fans had circled for a reveal — has come and gone without a secret episode, but a vocal few remain unconvinced the series is finished. Netflix will release One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 on Jan. 12, is developing an animated spin-off titled Stranger Things: Tales From '85, and the Duffer brothers have described a planned live-action spin-off as a "clean slate" with "a completely different story and a completely different location with completely different actors and characters."
