Fans Spot Dragon-Shaped Cloud in Pokémon Winds and Waves Trailer

After several leaks, Pokémon Winds and Waves were officially unveiled today as part of the series’ 30th anniversary. The first trailer showed the new starter trio while otherwise featuring older monsters from previous games. Fans have zeroed in on a cloud formation that appears twice in the trailer and resembles a dragon.

It first appears in the opening cinematic where a trainer flips through drawings of Pikachu in various regions; the final image in that sequence shows Pikachu looking out a window into the games’ ocean region with the dragon-shaped cloud overhead. The cloud also appears prominently in an in-game environmental shot.

Some speculate Winds’ mascot could be a flying-type Dragon and Waves a sea creature, and others have suggested the silhouette resembles Gyarados—the initial sketch in the trailer matches Kanto’s Water/Flying monster more than the in-game cloud does.
