Fans Think Spielberg's Disclosure Day Is a Secret Close Encounters Sequel
Steven Spielberg's new trailer for Disclosure Day has stirred discussion online after viewers noticed striking echoes of his 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The teaser's bright, cloud-shrouded craft and scenes of animals behaving oddly prompted some to suggest the movie could be a concealed follow-up to that earlier first-contact story.
The trailer introduces Josh O'Connor, Emily Blunt, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell and Colin Firth, and hints at a plot involving aliens, UFOs and government cover-ups. Blunt appears to play a weatherperson taken over by alien communication, O'Connor's character uncovers a larger mystery, and Firth's role features a body projected so others can perceive him.
Spielberg has story credit on Disclosure Day, with David Koepp credited for the screenplay.
