Far Far West, a new co-op (or solo) first-person game from indie studio Evil Raptor—the small team behind Pumpkin Jack and Akimbot—has emerged as one of Steam Next Fest’s most popular demos. The unfinished build casts players as robot cowboys who drop into large western-themed maps to tackle side objectives, open-world activities and a big boss fight before attempting to escape via a hover train.

Runs reward several currencies and XP that you can spend on rifles, pistols, and robot magic, and the game includes joker cards that grant bonus abilities and special traits. Examples from the demo ranged from a card that boosted damage when low on health to a purely cosmetic card that made headshots spit confetti.

Combat and movement feel deliberate: guns land with weight, movement includes air dashes and large jumps, and you can ride a horse to cross open areas.
