Businessinsider reported the FBI arrested what an official called a "total imposter" for allegedly trying to profit from the disappearance of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie's mother with a bogus ransom note. FBI Phoenix special agent in charge Heith Janke said the arrest was related to an "imposter ransom demand" for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who authorities believe was taken from her Arizona home five days ago.

Janke said an additional ransom letter sent to local and national media is being taken "seriously," and that the notes mentioned a monetary "demand," an Apple Watch and a floodlight. Janke urged anyone involved to "do the right thing," saying Nancy Guthrie needs vital medication that, if not taken every 24 hours, could have life‑threatening consequences.
