The FBI has asked anyone who may have been scammed by games “embedded with malware” on Steam over the past two years to come forward. The agency made the “Steam Malware Investigation” alert public on March 11 and said affected users who were victims of Trojan-horse-infected scams “may be eligible for certain services, restitution, and rights under federal and/or state law.” The FBI’s Seattle Division is trying to identify potential victims who installed Steam games containing malware and says the threat actor primarily targeted users between May 2024 and January 2026.

The investigation names seven titles: BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse/DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova. The alert refers to a singular “threat actor,” which suggests one person or one group may be behind all seven games. Identities tied to BlockBlasters were at least partially revealed and have been linked to a crypto-scam Telegram group.
