Federal agents kill woman in Minneapolis; two shot by Border Patrol in Portland
Time reports federal immigration agents killed one woman and wounded two other people in two separate shootings within 48 hours: Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Wednesday, and U.S. Border Patrol agents shot Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras in Portland the following day.
Good, 37, a U.S. citizen and mother of three, was returning from dropping off her 6-year-old son at school when an ICE officer shot her, The Associated Press reported. Federal officials said the shooting was an act of "self-defense," accusing Good of trying to run over the officer, but videos circulating online appear to contradict descriptions given by President Donald Trump and other federal officials, and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called it "a garbage narrative that is not true." Good’s mother, Donna Ganger, said, "She was probably terrified," and Good’s wife, Becca Good, described her as compassionate and loving in a statement to Minnesota Public Radio.
The Department of Homeland Security on Friday identified the two people shot in Portland as Venezuelan nationals Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras and called them "suspected Tren de Aragua gang associates," without providing evidence. DHS said Moncada entered the U.S.
