Federal initiatives, buildings and a proposed coin have been named for Trump

President Trump has had a string of federal initiatives, places and items named or renamed for him in the last year, including “The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts,” the Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace, a proposed Trump-class U.S.S.

Defiant, a Trump Gold Card, “Trump Accounts,” TrumpRx, a proposed 2026 Semiquincentennial $1 coin and an America the Beautiful national parks pass that features his likeness. The push to attach Mr. Trump’s name while he is still in office has drawn unusual attention and some legal challenges.

The Kennedy Center’s board added Mr. Trump’s name even though the center was named by an act of Congress; the center’s spokeswoman said its new official name was “The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.” The facade of the United States Institute of Peace now bears his name despite ongoing litigation asserting the office is not under executive branch control.

Environmental activists are challenging the Interior Department’s decision to put Mr. Trump’s likeness on most America the Beautiful Passes, a move the article says could violate a law requiring the passes to be illustrated by the winner of an annual park photography contest.
