Netflix has released a final trailer for the Stranger Things series finale, which premieres on New Year’s Eve. Fans are expected to watch at home or head to theaters for the event.

The new trailer arrives amid already-high anticipation. The report notes there are some spoilers for Vols. 1 and 2 but no major Vol. 2 reveals.

In Vol. 1, Hawkins is under military occupation and Vecna is targeting a new group of children while using a human alias, "Mr. Whatsit," a nod to A Wrinkle in Time.

Vecna kidnaps Holly Wheeler and takes her to the Upside Down, where she connects with Max, who remains in a coma with her consciousness hiding inside one of Vecna’s old memories.

Dustin struggles with grief over Eddie Munson, causing a rift with Steve. The rest of the group focuses on stockpiling supplies and helping Eleven and Hopper track Vecna in the Upside Down, where they find Kali/Eight held in a military laboratory.

At a military base, Vecna’s demagorgons attack to take 11 more children, quickly overwhelming most of the soldiers.

A major reveal is that Will, kidnapped by Vecna in Season 1, has developed supernatural powers through his connection to Vecna. He can tap into Vecna’s hive mind and uses those powers to save his friends from the demagorgons.
