Final Trailer for Project Hail Mary Debuts Ahead of Super Bowl
Amazon MGM has released the third and final trailer for Project Hail Mary ahead of today's Super Bowl, as the film prepares for its March 20, 2026 release. The movie is adapted from Andy Weir's novel. Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, a scientist racing to save humanity from astrophage, a space algae that is draining the sun's energy.
The story plays out across two timelines — Grace's work on Earth and his efforts in space — which come together in an explosive climax. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed, with a screenplay by Drew Goddard from Weir's book. The cast also includes Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Olesya Ilyukhina and Yáo Li-Jie, and the film runs 156 minutes.
Project Hail Mary naturally invites comparison to The Martian: both center on stranded scientists solving life-or-death problems far from Earth, but Project Hail Mary adds an unlikely companion in Rocky, an alien ally, rather than leaving its protagonist entirely alone.
