How to find and automate aketine production in Arknights: Endfield

Polygon reports that in Arknights: Endfield aketine is a material found around Talos-2, including spots in the Valley Pass area along the Abandoned Trail, and that it is used to make Industrial Explosives.

You can gather aketine from several spiky plants along the Abandoned Trail, though there are enemies nearby in some locations. Once you collect at least one, you can either return to the wild to harvest more or build an automated factory—but the setup requires an initial aketine to start.

To automate production you must unlock the Basic AIC II tree by completing the "Paving the Way" story quest, which grants the item to open that row. Then use a Basic AIC Index to unlock the Planting node in Processing, which lets you place Seed-Picking and Planting Units; each plant turned into seeds by the Seed-Picking Unit yields two seeds, allowing you to multiply a single crop indefinitely.

You can arrange Planting Unit outputs to feed a Shredding Unit for aketine powder and then a Packaging Unit to make explosives, or route aketine into other machines as needed. Industrial Explosives are useful for cracking open passageways and are required for a story quest, so an automated aketine farm provides a steady, effectively endless supply once set up.
