Fitbit users will soon be able to connect medical records to the Fitbit app so the personal health coach can review them. The data includes lab results, medications and visit history, and the AI can use it to contextualize responses to health questions. By combining medical records with lifestyle patterns such as sleep, diet and activity recorded by Fitbit, the coach can offer more personalized guidance — for example, explaining a recent lab test or suggesting ways to improve cholesterol.

Google says the coach will not diagnose, prescribe or offer a treatment plan; when conversations veer into medical territory it will remind users to consult a healthcare professional. The feature arrives next month. The update raises privacy questions for users uneasy about linking health records to a consumer device owned by Google.
