Five Science Fiction Movies to Stream Now

In this month’s picks, avengers of the toxic variety and princesses of the cosmic variety. Macon Blair’s reboot of “The Toxic Avenger,” streaming on Hulu, reimagines janitor Winston — played by Peter Dinklage — who becomes a green mutant after falling into a vat of chemical sludge.

Toxie is voiced by Dinklage and embodied by Luisa Guerreiro; Kevin Bacon plays the corrupt executive Bob Garbinger, and Jacob Tremblay appears as Winston’s stepson Wade. Blair leans into the franchise’s history and schlock sensibility while weaving in elements like the dystopian American health-insurance system without sermonizing.

“Decibel” follows Scout (Aleyse Shannon), a young singer-songwriter invited by the tech tycoon Donna (Stefanie Estes) to a desert studio built to find a “perfect frequency” by connecting musicians to artificial intelligence via bracelets.
