Running With Scissors has announced Flesh & Wire, a new horror first-person shooter that puts players in the role of Angel, a young woman seeking vengeance after being shot by the Postal Dude during his 1997 killing spree.

The game sends Angel across the Arizona desert to track the Dude, confronting military forces and her own traumatic memories as she searches for retribution.

The studio has long courted controversy with its often-criticised games; Postal 2 was, despite many flaws, ahead of its time in certain ways. Last December the company went through a fiasco in which it announced a new game, insulted fans, apologised and cancelled the project within 48 hours.

Flesh & Wire isn’t due until sometime next year. In the meantime, Hyperstrange’s spinoff Postal: Brain Damaged is suggested as an entertaining, if thoroughly disposable, boomer shooter lark.
