Florian Wirtz set to miss Wolves game, Arne Slot gives update
Arne Slot does not expect Florian Wirtz to have recovered in time for Liverpool’s next fixture against Wolves. The German playmaker missed Saturday’s 5-2 win over West Ham after being left out of the squad with a back problem. Wirtz has enjoyed a stronger second half of the season, scoring four times and providing two assists during a six-game run in January, but he pulled out of the side that beat Nottingham Forest after picking up an injury in the pre-match warm-up.
Slot confirmed the 22-year-old would miss the clash with West Ham as the Reds overcame a couple of scares to secure victory. Slot said: "I think that will be too early, but I said last week I didn’t expect him not to be available for today, so sometimes with an injury things can develop in a positive way or in a negative way.
Now we are thinking it doesn’t have to take too long, but Tuesday will probably be too early.
