People reports that police in Coconut Creek, Florida, found 34-year-old Jean Dominque Foureau and a woman dead in what authorities described as an apparent murder-suicide.

Officers responded to a disturbance at a home in the 4800 block of Acardian Trail around 4 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, according to NBC 6, WPLG Local 10 and the Miami Herald. Police said the woman’s name has not been released; the outlets reported the two shared a child and had been a couple, and authorities believe Foureau shot the woman before dying by suicide.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Foureau was a chief resident in the emergency department at Broward Health Medical Center and served as a Battalion Surgeon in the Florida Army National Guard. Broward Health said in a statement shared with WPLG Local 10 that his training within their system concluded in 2024 and he has had no affiliation with the organization since then.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing. If you are experiencing domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or go to thehotline.org; calls are toll-free and confidential, and the hotline is available 24/7 in more than 170 languages.
