Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl surprises guests to serve BBQ at LA backyard bash

Guests at a relaxed backyard show in Los Angeles got an unexpected helping when the cook ladling coleslaw turned out to be Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters frontman and former Nirvana drummer. Viral social footage posted last week captured him happily working the barbecue and chatting with partygoers.

An attendee said it was “so fun” and that Grohl was “incredibly nice,” laughing and cutting up while handing out food. The party, held at a friend’s house known for small backyard concerts, had been years in the making and footage of the 17-time Grammy winner passing barbecue into bowls has been viewed 586K times on TikTok.

Grohl’s fondness for grilling is well established: he has cooked large meals for charity, feeding people at Hope the Mission shelters and serving firefighters during California wildfires. He traces the obsession to the early ’90s, after Nirvana began making serious money and he bought a beach house in North Carolina, where pulled pork became a staple.
