Four people, including two children, found dead in Perth in suspected murder-suicide
Two adults and two children were found dead on Friday in a Mosman Park home in Perth in a suspected murder-suicide, police said. The adults were a 50-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman; the children were aged 14 and 16. Emergency services received a distressed call at 8.15am from a person known to the family who had gone to the house on Mott Close.
Police arrived shortly after, and a spokesperson for St John Ambulance WA said it sent five crews to the house just before 8.30am on priority 1 conditions. Detective Inspector Jessica Securo said the four people "are believed to be known to each other and are part of the family unit" and that it did not appear to be a "violent incident", with no weapon appearing to have been used.
She said the family had no reported family violence matters with police. Securo said both children had "significant health challenges" and had engaged with care services in the past. Three deceased pets were also found at the home. A note was left at the premises, cited as the main reason police were treating the incident as a murder-suicide.
Police remain at the home, located in a cul-de-sac in one of Perth’s most affluent suburbs, and several surrounding streets have been cordoned off. Securo described the scene as "confronting" and "highly distressing", saying officers were "understandably in shock" and that health and welfare staff and the police chaplain attended to support them.
