Framework says now is the time to buy 2TB-plus SSDs
Framework CEO Nirav Patel says now is the time to order a Framework Laptop or Desktop with a lot of storage. The company has started to deplete earlier, lower-cost SSD inventory and has needed to re-price some capacities to reflect the costs it is now paying for new orders, using a Weighted Average Cost model.
There are still capacities such as 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB SN850X for which pricing remains substantially below market while inventory sells through. System memory prices are rising again, though the increase this month is smaller than in previous months. Patel cautioned that Framework does not yet have the visibility to determine if this is a new, stable cost level.
Framework has slightly raised pricing on some pre-built Framework Desktop and Framework Laptop 16 configurations, and says it will need to adjust remaining pre-built configurations of Framework Laptop 13, Framework Laptop 16, and Framework Laptop 12 in upcoming months.
