Friends launch $250K GoFundMe for Eric Dane's daughters after his death

Friends of Eric Dane have set up a $250,000 GoFundMe to support his two daughters after his death. The GoFundMe account states the "Grey's Anatomy" star died Thursday at the age of 53, "leaving behind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world" following a battle with ALS.

The fundraiser says, "As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs." It adds that even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease.

Dane’s family announced his death on Thursday in a statement to People: "With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.
