In 2008, Fox premiered Fringe, a mysterious series rooted in fringe science. Though the show was criminally underwatched, it stayed tightly focused, centering on Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv), an FBI agent pulled into a secret initiative that investigates strange anomalies.

Olivia is paired with the disgraced, mentally fragile Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his brilliant son Peter (Joshua Jackson). Many of the anomalies, known as The Pattern, often trace back to Walter, whose scientific breakthroughs came at a heavy personal cost.

Fringe consistently balances plot twists with intimate character moments instead of settling into by-the-numbers procedural beats. Major revelations—most notably that Walter stole Peter from another dimension—reshape emotional relationships and drive the narrative.
