Fulton County Asks Return of Ballots Seized by F.B.I.
Fulton County filed a motion in federal court demanding the return of ballots and other 2020 election materials that F.B.I. agents seized last week. The motion was filed under seal, county spokeswoman Jessica Corbitt said, and also seeks the unsealing of the affidavit used to obtain the search warrant.
County officials said agents searched the election headquarters and removed pallets of ballots, tape and equipment, and that they have not received a full inventory from the Justice Department. Local officials expressed alarm over the reported presence of Tulsi Gabbard, who met with some of the agents after the search and then spoke by phone with Mr.
Trump, the Times reported. The action follows continued assertions by Mr. Trump that the 2020 election was rigged and his calls to involve the federal government in voting procedures, prompting concern from Democrats, election officials and voting rights experts that the administration could be laying groundwork to intervene in elections.
