Galatasaray fans banned from Champions League trip to Anfield
Galatasaray will travel to Anfield without their vocal support after UEFA's Appeals Body confirmed a ticket ban for the Champions League last-16 second leg on March 18. The absence of away fans adds another layer of difficulty for the Turkish champions, who beat Liverpool 1-0 in the league phase and progressed past Juventus with a 7-5 aggregate win in the playoffs.
The sanction followed fan incidents during the away match against Juventus on 25 February, 2026; the club said the UEFA Disciplinary Committee fined them €40,000 and ordered the next away match to be played behind closed doors, and an appeal was lodged. Reuters then reported the appeal had been rejected after scenes in the stands included a firework being launched towards Juventus fans in Turin, injuring a man and his daughter.
Striker Victor Osimhen warned Liverpool would be more dangerous and likened the tie to "some sort of revenge," while noting Anfield's atmosphere is formidable even without a full away end.
