Galatasaray say they will seek compensation after Noa Lang suffered a horrific thumb injury during Liverpool's 4-0 Champions League win at Anfield. The 26-year-old sliced his digit on an advertising hoarding after a collision in the 76th minute, falling to the floor clutching his wounded right hand.

He was consoled by Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk, given oxygen and taken off the field on a stretcher. Eray Yazga, Galatasaray’s general secretary, confirmed the club's legal intent: “We made a complaint to Uefa representatives after the match. They also made their investigations.

Uefa will evaluate the issue. We are in talks with lawyers. We will file a lawsuit for compensation to Uefa. We will ask for our victimisation in terms of salary to be eliminated.” Club officials say they want the player's wages covered during his absence, calling the incident a preventable hazard.
