GameStop employees upset at new strict dress code
In a report from Polygon, GameStop enacted a new dress code that restricts employees from wearing loud gaming T-shirts and similar apparel. Full-time employees must wear collared shirts, blouses, or polos with small logos; part-time employees may also wear solid red or black T-shirts.
GameStop-branded shirts and vendor-provided shirts are allowed. Workers say the change, enacted at the start of February, felt abrupt and has left many scrambling to comply. They say GameStop did not provide shirts, forcing extra expense; the company sells branded polos for $32, and the GameStop Gear employee show currently lists only women's polos in sizes XL and larger.
GameStop did not respond to a request for comment, and enforcement varies by store as the policy has not been communicated uniformly to all employees. Some employees say the rules clash with the retailer's informal, enthusiast-oriented culture, where graphic tees signal knowledge to customers.
