Gareth Bale says Zidane 'didn't do much' as Real Madrid manager
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Bale said Zinedine Zidane "didn't do too much" and that the side relied heavily on its individual quality. "You knew if you played Barca or Bayern you would do a bit of tactics, with the rest it was minimal. In big games you do 15 minutes of tactics defensively rather than attacking and that's it," he said.
He rejected long-running stories of tension in the 'BBC' front three: "We got on very well in the dressing room. We never had a problem." Bale described Karim Benzema as "very calm" while he and Cristiano Ronaldo provided "more spark", with Ronaldo "holding it all together" and Bale arriving as "the last piece of the puzzle." On Ronaldo's perfectionism, Bale admitted he could overreact after missed chances but understood the forward's drive.
