Gemini 3 Deep Think: Advancing science, research and engineering — Google DeepMind News

A major upgrade to Gemini 3 Deep Think, a specialized reasoning mode for science, research and engineering, has been released. The update was developed in collaboration with scientists and researchers to tackle problems that often lack clear guardrails and involve messy or incomplete data.

Google AI Ultra subscribers can access the updated Deep Think in the Gemini app, and for the first time select researchers, engineers and enterprises can express interest in early access via the Gemini API. Early testers have already seen practical results. Mathematician Lisa Carbone used Deep Think to review a technical paper and it identified a subtle logical flaw that had passed human peer review; the Wang Lab at Duke used it to design a fabrication recipe that produced thin films larger than 100 μm; and Anupam Pathak tested the mode to accelerate the design of physical components.
