Gemini app adds Lyria 3 for custom music generation

The Gemini app now offers custom music generation with Lyria 3, a new generative music model rolling out in beta. Provide a description or upload a photo or video — for example, “a comical R&B slow jam about a sock finding their match” — and Gemini will translate it into a high-quality, catchy 30-second track.

Lyria 3 improves on earlier audio models in three key ways: it generates lyrics from your prompt so you don’t need to provide them, gives more creative control over style, vocals and tempo, and creates more realistic, musically complex tracks. Tracks include custom cover art generated by Nano Banana and are easy to download or share.

Creators can also explore Lyria 3 on YouTube’s Dream Track to enhance Shorts soundtracks; the feature is available in the U.S. and is rolling out to creators in other countries. All tracks generated in the Gemini app are embedded with SynthID, an imperceptible watermark for identifying Google AI–generated content, and the app can check uploaded files for SynthID and return a response.
