George Conway announced on Tuesday that he is running for an open House seat representing Midtown Manhattan, Time reports.

A onetime conservative lawyer and activist who helped set in motion the impeachment of Bill Clinton and later agitated for the impeachments of Donald Trump, Conway is running as a Democrat and has framed his bid almost entirely around holding Trump accountable. His rollout coincided with the five-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 insurrection; Conway said he may serve only until Trump leaves office and tied his campaign to using legal skills to challenge the former president.

The Democratic primary for New York’s 12th District is crowded, with candidates including Jack Schlossberg, Cameron Kasky, State Assemblymen Alex Bores and Micah Lasher, and Jami Floyd. Democrats in the district have a 33-point advantage and the winner of the June 23 primary is widely expected to be favored in November, but Conway still must win over Democratic primary voters; he has also said he would “absolutely” support Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker if elected.
