Gianluca Prestianni provisionally suspended by UEFA after Vinicius complaint
Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni has been provisionally suspended by UEFA as an investigation continues into an exchange with Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior. He is accused of making racist comments and will miss the second leg of the Champions League play-off at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The incident followed Vinicius opening the scoring at Estadio da Luz, when the Brazil international and the 20-year-old Argentine were involved in a heated exchange. Prestianni covered his mouth with his shirt during the interaction, and Vinicius ran to the referee to lodge a complaint; proceedings were halted for 10 minutes while UEFA protocols were followed and investigations were opened by both UEFA and the Portuguese government.
