Giving Block: Stablecoin donations surge in 2025
The Giving Block's annual report found a surge in donations using stablecoins in 2025 compared with previous years. The platform said there had been a “major shift” in donations using stablecoins, particularly with Ripple USD (RLUSD) and Circle’s USDC (USDC). It reported facilitating more than $100 million in crypto donations in 2025, with more than $32 million coming through USDC, RLUSD, Tether’s USDt (USDT), Dai (DAI), and other stablecoins.
Notably, the report said $25 million in RLUSD may have come directly from Ripple Labs, which pledged the funds to the nonprofits DonorsChoose and Teach For America in May. The Giving Block projected it could see up to $2.5 billion in total crypto donations. Givepact, citing the Giving Block's data, said stablecoins had “rapidly become the top donated asset in crypto philanthropy.” The platform added that the payment stablecoin bill signed into law in the US in 2025 elevated the assets to "cash-equivalent" status.
