Glen Powell Producing Crocodile Spec 'The Death Roll' for Lionsgate

Lionsgate has acquired The Death Roll, a crocodile creature feature produced by Glen Powell and Dan Cohen through their Barnstorm banner. Powell, who has moved from supporting roles to leading parts in recent years, is now expanding his work behind the camera. Details are limited and it has not been disclosed whether Powell will also star.

The logline follows a couple whose dream vacation turns into a nightmare when they encounter an invasive 15-foot saltwater crocodile. The title refers to the death roll, a crocodile feeding maneuver in which the animal grips prey and spins to subdue and dismember it.

The screenplay was written by Kas Graham and Rebecca Pollock, who previously collaborated on last year’s Stolen Girl. Producers on the project include Powell and Cohen, along with Bryan Haas of Chasing Epic Pictures, and Barnstorm’s Ryan Schwartz serves as an executive producer.
