God of War spin-off starring Faye reportedly in development
Leaker NateTheHate on X revealed that Sony Santa Monica is developing a God of War spin-off starring Faye, Kratos' wife and Atreus' mother, and IGN has corroborated parts of the leak. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier previously noted the studio was working on a new project that wasn’t a new IP, and a LinkedIn profile for a senior writer shared on ResetEra further suggests more God of War is coming.
Faye, played by Deborah Ann Woll, is an unusual choice for a lead: she is introduced already dead and spent little time on screen in the original game. God of War (2018) focused on Kratos and Atreus grieving her loss, and only at the end do they discover she was a Frost Giant with the power of foresight.
Players learn more about Faye through Kratos’s dreams in God of War Ragnarök, which revealed the depth of their relationship and the impact of her death. Because her fate is already known, the new game is expected to be a prequel, though that has not been confirmed.
