Golden Globes' 2026 red carpet moves outdoors amid Beverly Hilton construction
According to People, the 2026 Golden Globes will stage its red carpet outdoors along nearly 500 feet of Wilshire Boulevard after construction at the Beverly Hilton removed the event’s traditional indoor carpet.
Show runner Glenn Weiss told Los Angeles Magazine, “Necessity is the mother of invention,” saying the team had to devise a new plan when the usual space was lost. The redesigned entrance replaces a flat backdrop with a staircase meant to evoke Met Gala–style moments; production designer Jitter Garcia said the intent was “to feel like motion, not posing” and that the steps were measured with skirts, trains and heels in mind. Production designer Kyle Absalom said an initial version was scrapped after it didn’t read correctly on camera, and stylists were invited to preview the new setup.
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa said food service will be largely unchanged, with “around twelve hundred plates” served and a late-night sushi bar off-camera. Comedian Nikki Glaser returns to host the 83rd annual Golden Globes, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. EST, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Among film nominees, One Battle After Another led with nine nods, Sentimental Value had eight and Sinners seven; on television, The White Lotus earned six nominations and Adolescence five.
