Google: the AI era is now a present reality, guided by its AI principles
Google has published its "responsible AI progress report", declaring that "the AI era is no longer a distant promise; it is a present reality" and calling its "AI Principles the north star standards" to guide work over the next year. The document concentrates on how AI is already aiding people and on efforts to make the Gemini chatbot safer.
It says Gemini 3 underwent "rigorous testing" before deployment and outlines steps to reduce risk as the model begins to "introduce agentic capabilities to Chrome." Prompt injection is flagged as a key security concern, and the report describes additions such as an "Alignment critic" that "acts as an independent reviewer, vetoing actions that do not align with the user’s specific intent." It also discusses mitigations like filters to block access to dangerous capabilities and using AI assistance to help maintain oversight.
