Google makes it easier to check sources in AI Overviews

Google now shows original sources in pop-up windows for both AI Overviews and AI Mode, letting users jump quickly to the websites used to compile Gemini-based summaries. The feature appears when you hover over links inside the AI summary, revealing which site contributed specific content.

On a desktop browser, enter a search and look for an AI Overview near the top of the results. Links at the end of each paragraph reveal a small window with a description and a clickable link when you hover; clicking takes you to the source so you can verify the information.

The same hover pop-ups work in AI Mode when you select its heading.
