Google Maps is introducing two new features: Ask Gemini, which brings conversational answers inside Maps, and Immersive Navigation, a redesigned driving view that changes how routes are presented. Ask Gemini lets you ask Maps conversational questions instead of searching elsewhere.

Sample queries include: "Is there a public tennis court with lights on that I can play at tonight?" "Where can I charge my phone without having to wait in a long line for coffee?" and "I'm driving to the Grand Canyon, show me some cool places to stop along the way." Tap the "Ask Maps" button to get responses that include a customized map, clear directions, estimated arrival times and insider tips from real reviews; the answers draw only from Google Maps data, not other services like Gmail.

The Immersive Navigation update introduces a 3D spatial view that shows buildings, overpasses and terrain rather than a flat overhead map.
