Greenland’s government advised households on Wednesday to have enough supplies for five days in case of a crisis, the semiautonomous Danish territory said, and said the guidance was prompted by repeated power outages. The advisory was issued as President Trump told European leaders he would not use military force to seize Greenland.

The government said it published a crisis preparedness brochure, which made no mention of Mr. Trump, to “strengthen the security of the population and to ensure that society’s overall preparedness is even stronger,” and that it began preparing the brochure last year. Peter Borg, the minister who oversees self-sufficiency, said the publication “is not an expression that we expect a crisis.” Officials have also been reviewing broader crisis plans: Mute B.

Egede, Greenland’s finance minister and deputy prime minister, said the government was reviewing its crisis preparedness, and Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen told reporters he could not rule out an American attack. The brochure follows similar guidance from Nordic governments in 2024; those countries had then focused on Russia, and the report said many are now also concerned about the United States.
