NSW Greens MLC Abigail Boyd says she was pushed and shoved by police at last night’s Sydney protest despite telling officers she was a member of state parliament. Speaking to ABC RN Breakfast, Boyd said police “just started assaulting people”, and described an officer who “pushes his fist into my chin” and another who shoved her shoulder; she posted a picture wearing a neck brace and said she felt “absolutely shocked.” Federal Greens leader Larissa Waters called footage from the demonstrations “abhorrent”, describing it as “state violence” and blaming the NSW Labor government and the federal government for inviting Isaac Herzog.

Waters wrote that peaceful protesters were set upon, with “punches thrown at people with raised hands” and people praying “ripped from their knees.” The unrest has unfolded alongside fresh turmoil in the Liberal party, with the party room due to meet amid leadership speculation.
