Greg Yaitanes on Directing 'Marshals' and 'Dutton Ranch'

Greg Yaitanes has entered the Yellowstone universe by directing episodes of the CBS series Marshals and the upcoming Paramount+ series Dutton Ranch. Marshals follows widowed Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), a marshal who blends Navy SEAL training with cowboy justice in Montana, while Dutton Ranch continues the journey of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).

Yaitanes reunited with Logan Marshall-Green after their work on Quarry, directing the first two episodes of Marshals and then a block of Dutton Ranch. He said scripts for a second season of Quarry had been written but didn’t move forward, and that everyone involved would "do another season in a heartbeat." He was drawn to Kayce’s "soulful" nature and described one later episode, which he also directed, as the real beginning of the series, with the pilot serving more as a bridge between Yellowstone and Marshals.

Yaitanes praised the material for its humanity and the room it gave to explore father‑son themes.
