Gregory Bovino recalled from Minneapolis post and barred from X
On Monday, the Trump administration recalled Gregory Bovino, a Border Patrol official leading an operation in Minneapolis, and barred him from posting on his government profile on X, The New York Times' "Late Night Roundup" reported.
Comedian Desi Lydic said Bovino got "iced out," calling him "the face of the immigration crackdown, in that he’s the only one not hiding his face."
Lydic added, "Man, do you know how badly you have to be at immigration enforcement that you get deported to Mexico?" and joked, "We’re not throwing you under the bus — we’re throwing you onto a bus, and sending it far, far away."
The Department of Homeland Security also suspended his access to his own social media accounts. "You know how bad things have to be for Donald Trump to take your social media away?" Jimmy Kimmel said, and Lydic added, "I can’t believe that ‘no more screen time’ works on both 8-year-olds and the head of a fascist death squad. Wow, technology is really powerful."
The Late Night Roundup item reports the recall and the suspension of Bovino’s social media access; the piece does not say whether further disciplinary action will follow.
