Grimm: NBC’s fantasy procedural finds new life on Prime Video
Grimm, the six-season series that originally aired on NBC from 2011 to 2017, is now available on Prime Video. Created by Stephen Carpenter, Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt, the show blends urban fantasy, horror and police procedural elements into a fresh take on classic fairy tales.
The series follows Portland detective Nick Burkhardt, whose life changes when he learns he is one of the last Grimms—guardians who keep humans and the mythological creatures called Wesen in balance. Alongside his partner Hank Griffin and ally Monroe, and with significant roles for Juliette Silverton and Adalind Schade, the show pairs weekly cases inspired by the Brothers Grimm with a growing, high-concept mythology.
Shot on location in the forests around Portland, Grimm ran for 123 episodes across six seasons, most of them 22-episode runs before a shortened 13-episode final season. It became one of the few genre shows to sustain a full network run during that era.
