Grogu won't speak beyond babble in The Mandalorian and Grogu
Star Wars' upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu has left fans wondering whether the little green companion will speak more than his usual baby babble on the big screen.
Kathleen Kennedy said Grogu will not be speaking in anything but babble during the film. "[Grogu is] another perfect example of a character that has to emote and you have to feel connected to, and he never speaks a word," she said, and she confirmed he will not "gain the power of speech" in the film releasing in May.
Star Wars has long featured memorable, emotive non-speaking characters like R2-D2 and Chewbacca, and while some viewers hoped to learn more of Grogu's inner thoughts, his silence will not stop him and Din Djarin from facing crime lords and Imperials. The Mandalorian and Grogu debuts in theaters on May 22.
