Guardian Filter tests 10 duvets and selects Panda the Cloud as best overall
The Guardian's Filter tested 10 duvets and the reviewer selected Panda the Cloud as best duvet overall. Other category winners included Slumberland All Seasons as best budget, Woolroom Deluxe Washable 3‑in‑1 as best luxury, Scooms Hungarian goose down as best down, and Soak & Sleep Soft as Down as best down‑like.
The tester praised Panda the Cloud (double, £129.95) for its 100% bamboo viscose casing and bamboo‑infused microfibre filling, its 10.5‑tog warmth and breathability, and its quiet, even loft; the reviewer measured the double at 3.75kg, noted it washed and dried reasonably on a heated airer, and said it comes with a five‑year guarantee and a 30‑night trial, but only in a 10.5 tog so may be too warm in hotter weather.
Testing ran from late October to Christmas. Each duvet was initially assessed for casing, stitching and filling distribution, then shared by the reviewer and a testing partner for three nights and used solo for at least one further night. The bedroom averaged about 15C overnight while outdoor November temperatures ranged from 4C to 12C; a hot‑room nap at 24C tested warm‑weather performance.
All sleep tests used a cotton duvet cover, many duvets were machine washed and dried on a heated airer, and the washed duvets were donated to the Southampton hardship charity Scratch.
